  1. His achievements include performing open heart surgery on former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad in 1989
  2. Pioneering the establishment of the National Heart Institute in 1992
  3. Performing Malaysia’s first heart transplanting in 1998
  4. Author of many scholarly and professional articles and has made numerous presentations to professional audiences


6. Honours and Awards:

  1. “Merdeka Award 2013” in the health, science and technology category, he received a trophy, the Merdeka Award work of art by artist Latiff Mohidin, and RM5,000 cash (2013)
  2. “Anugerah Kecemerlangan BIM” from Balai Iktisas Malaysia for healthcare and medical category (2008)
